Warehouse Associate, Vikan North America

Daniel Ibrahim

Daniel works at Vikan North America (previously Remco) as a Warehouse Associate and has been with the company since 2008. Remco became a Vikan company in 2018 after the two companies had been partners for 35 years.

One thing that Daniel mentions is that Remco always took care of him, and it feels like family when you go to work. He is very pleased that even though Vikan bought Remco years back, the “Remco Spirit” did not change, and he believes the company stayed a great place to work. Daniel explains that the “Remco Spirit” means that the company takes care of its employees, and he is treated very well. Managers and colleagues are always ready to answer questions and help out, and for him it feels like family, and his job at Remco feels like more than just a job.

When you have been with a company for many years changes happen. Daniel believes that the biggest change he has experienced during his time with the company is that the company keeps growing and expanding and with this everything goes faster. For him it is exciting to be part of this journey, however he still appreciates that the spirit of the company stays the same. For the future Daniel has some advice for Remco and Vikan: "My advice is that if you want to celebrate your 250th anniversary, you have to keep growing but never forget to care for your employees".

"I hope for the future that the company will keep expanding but also keep taking care of its employees"

Daniel, Warehouse Associate

It makes Daniel very proud to work with a company that treats its employees very well and takes care of them. This is something he will always remember about Remco. Another very important thing he always has been grateful for is the flexibility he has, and the company encourage prioritising family. To this point Daniel attaches a story from several years back when he had a manager, who every Friday went around and told Daniel and his colleagues to take it easy and save some energy for later when they got home to their families. For Daniel this meant a lot, and it showed that Remco cares about its employees and knows the value of spending time with family.
Finally, he states, “I hope my story will inspire younger people to join the company and stay here for long. It is a great working place.”

What will you take with you or remember from Vikan North America the day you leave the company?

I will always remember the way the company treated me. When I started at the company, I was told that my family was the most important, so my working hours got adjusted, so I was able to spend time with them. The flexibility is also one of the reasons I stayed for so many years.
