Product Manager, Microfiber, Shadow Boards & Transport

Mihkel Lossmann

Mihkel started his journey at Vikan in August 2023 as Microfiber Product Manager, where he looks after all products from the microfiber range, maintaining market overview, and driving product development, testing and commercial focus. Mihkel is located at the Vikan facilities in Estonia.

Mihkel has an international background - in 2008 he moved to UK for work and stayed for 10 years. After a decade, he returned home to Estonia, as his daughter was about to start school. Here, he worked at a home textile company as a developer technologist. A year later, he moved to procurement department as purchasing manager until he left and joined Vikan.

Mihkel joined the Vikan-team in 2023, the unique form of ownership that Vikan has, immediately caught his attention:

“I was really fascinated by the Vissing Foundation owned company concept, and that was the first major thing to turn my head to look more detailed into Vikan.” Mihkel said. “As a person, I have always been with the mindset to give something back, and to be a part of this makes me proud.”

But the Vissing Foundation is not the only thing Mihkel found important when he chose to join Vikan, as he further states:

“Vikan is producing high quality products globally and working closely together with distributers and end users, which means we have the best knowledge not only to know how to mass produce, but also how to make our products for end-customers safer and easier to use.”

"My start at Vikan has been very positive, supportive, and professional. I also appreciate the way Vikan takes care of their own employees and in my eyes that is the key of being a successful company"

Mihkel, Product Manager

At Vikan, we have a very extensive two-week onboarding programme where there is a number of various onboarding session with colleagues from different departments and “Walk & Talks” to support social integration and to provide informal opportunities to ask all kinds of questions. All European new hires receive their onboarding at HQ in Skive, Denmark.

Mihkel relayed that the onboarding programme was very positive, and he got to know many of his new colleagues and all the departments and processes behind the company. One of his favourite parts of the programme was the opportunity to meet everybody.

What is Vikan’s most important value in your opinion?

I believe the mindset of not just producing products, but the consideration of how to make the products through end-users’ points of view, and also how products are produced to be high quality and long lasting. Vikan should continue to have a close cooperation with customers/end-users and listen to them open-mindedly, as we already do.

Furthermore, Mihkel states that it makes him proud to be part of a company owned by a charitable foundation and to be part of a professional team where it is possible to learn and improve together.
