This method of fixing the bristles in the block has been used for decades, but this has a disadvantage when it comes to controlling foreign bodies. When the brush is used to clean complex equipment, the bristles can occasionally get caught and pulled out. Once a bristle is pulled out of the bundle clip, it leaves a gap, which makes the remaining bristles in the bundle looser and therefore more likely to be pulled out or fall out. Solving this problem was one of the driving forces behind the development of Vikans Ultra Safe Technology (UST) brush innovation.
UST brushes are designed completely differently than traditional brush products. They are fully moulded, have no drilled holes and no metal clips to attach the bristles. Each bristle in a UST brush is individually attached to the block, which means that losing one bristle does not affect the security of the others.
By using Vikan UST-brush products in a Nestlé factory in Germany, the risk of such foreign bodies has been largely eliminated.
