Purple praise for Vikan’s latest tool range
Vikan, the leader in advanced hygienic cleaning solutions, launches purple tools for use in food and beverage production areas.
Already available in red, blue, green, yellow, orange, white and black, Vikan's innovative colour-coded and FDA-approved tool range provides a simple and practical solution to the challenge of minimising cross-contamination between different food and beverage production areas. The range uses visual colour coding to prompt the employee to only use equipment colour coded for use in that area, even where language barrieres may exist. This colour coding can be supported and documented, in compliance with HACCP, using Vikans specially developed VCCA system.
Product Manager Jette Fruergaard, Vikan, says: "Manufacturers found they were needing an extra colour to use, for example, in areas where products containing organic or allergenic ingredients are being produced, or where they are running a large number of lines, each requiring tools of a different colour."
Fully colour-coded cleaning tools minimise the risk of cross-contamination between different areas of production where control of bacteria, allergens and foreign bodies is essential for food safety. The tools also aid segregation of organic and vegetarian food products and products containing GM ingredients. The tools motivate hygienic behaviour and so cleaner facilities, as it has been shown that using colour coded equipment promotes staff confidence and a greater inclination to regularly use and then replace the tools correctly.
Vikan provides a free colour-zoning service for customers as part of the hygiene system programme. Dividing the production premises into visually separated zones based on ingredients or activity, and assigning each zone its own colour of cleaning tools and hanging brackets, can eliminate the most fundamental cause of cross-contamination between high- and low-risk areas.
