Microfibre

Vikan ErgoClean® offers a complete program of microfibre mops and cloths which are based on Vikan’s microfibre material with unique cleaning properties.

On this page you can read about how the Vikan ErgoClean® microfibres work, view the documentation and learn how to wash the microfibre material to obtain the longest possible service life and the best cleaning properties.

How microfibres work

Dirt and bacteria are attracted and absorbed by static electricity generated in the material.

When used dry - static electricity is created

The microscopically thin fibres rubbing against a surface generate static electricity. This attracts both dirt and dust, which is caught in the fibres instead of swirling up into the air.

1. Dirt and bacteria are sucked up into the material through capillary action.

2. The dirt and bacteria are bound to the fibre surfaces (absorption) thanks to the aqueous layer surrounding the fibres instead of being sucked into the fibres.

When used damp  – a strong capillary force is created

The liquid is bound to and between the fibre surfaces by virtue of the synthetic fibre material and a unique splitting technique, which involves the formation of many microscopically small surfaces and gaps. The Vikan ErgoClean® microfibre material can suck up four to five times its own weight.

Documentation

We have extensive documentation of the effectiveness and durability of our microfibre products.

We have, for example, documentation from external testing institutes of the amount of bacteria and dust and dirt our microfibre materials are capable of removing.

On most of our microfibre products we guarantee 500 washes and use cycles with no change in performance characteristics. Look for this mark on our product documentation.

Washing instructions

To obtain maximum benefit from microfibre products and enjoy the above-mentioned guarantee of 500 washes and use cycles, it is important to treat the microfibre material correctly during washing.
